Following the Charge

How our activated carbon, made from petroleum coke, is finished into an electrode carbon for supercapacitors, and why it holds more charge than a carbon with far more surface. Press Start here for a short introduction, then open a chapter from the map. Each chapter can be watched with narration or stepped through at your own pace, and brings you back to the map when it ends.

Illustrated bird's-eye view of a northern lakeside landscape: on the left a carbon plant with a white building, a long kiln, two silos and a stockpile of coke, and beside it a small finishing building filling white bulk bags with black powder; a road runs through spruce and birch forest past a small white laboratory to a lakeside town, where an electric bus charges at a stop, a crane loads a container onto a ship, a passenger train runs along the shore and wind turbines stand on a granite ridge.
